Animal

Adaptions

The camel is a well adapted animal to it's enviroment. It's coat reflects the harsh sunlight, their long legs keep their body away from the hot ground. During sandstorms their eyes are protected by long eyelashes and an inner eyelid which allows some light in so the camel can still see. The camel can close it's nostrils so no sand gets in and large amounts of hair protect the ear.Unlike what most people think a camel's hump does not actually store water. It is in fact a store of fatty tissue which can convert to energy. The camels intestine and kidneys store water making it possible for the camel to survive in the hot desert.

Equatorial Climate

This climate lies between 5 to 10 degrees north or south of the equator. It is a one-season climate with average temperatures of 28 degrees C all year. There is rainfall every day, high humidity and an annual rainfall level of over 2,000 mm.
Rain forests are common of this climate, making mahogany, ebony and teak trees the natural vegetation.
The animals living in this climate are be, monkeys, snakes and parrots.

Savanna Climate

This climate is found on the outer regions of the tropical zone. It is a two-season climate with average temperature ranging from 25-35 degrees C. The summers are wet and the winters are dry. The annual rainfall level are over 800 mm.
There is not a wide variety of vegetation existing in this climate, but it includes the African ebony, the umbrella thorn and grass.
Wild animals such as lions, cheetahs and elephants live in this area of climate.

Hot Desert

Hot deserts are found between 15 and 30 degrees north and south of the equator. During the day temperatures are between 30-50 degrees C. There is no cloud cover so during the night temperatures are as low as 5 degrees C. There is very little rain and the annual rainfall level is only less then 100 mm.
The cactus is the only vegetation found in the desert climate.
The desert fox, rattlesnake and camel are animals in the desert.

Plant Adaptations

The cacti is a plant in the desert that has adapted well to survive in the hot climate.

To cope with the dry climate it has expansive roots to collect water from a large area, spines instead of leaves to store moisture, and to protect itself from enemies.

A Savanna Climate
Welcome to my blog on the hot climates of the world. I'm doing this blog for my transition year enviromental studies project.
